KC Ready 4s is a 501c3 non-profit that was formed in response to a 2008 meeting, where Interfaith Strategy for Advocacy and Action in the Community (ISAAC) identified the critical community need for accessible, high quality pre-kindergarten for 4 year-olds. Learn more about our founding.
The Kalamazoo County Committee for Early Childhood Education (KCCECE) facilitated an intensive two-year study, which assessed the kindergarten readiness of students throughout Kalamazoo County and supported enhancement of the quality of pre-kindergarten providers. As a result, the committee formed the Kalamazoo County Ready 4s’ board and hired an executive director to design a local system for accessible, high-quality pre-kindergarten.
Since 2010, KC Ready 4s has been contracting with qualified licensed private preschools, child care centers, and group child care homes that achieve and maintain 4-5 stars as measured by Michigan’s Great Start to Quality. Those programs that achieve and maintain 4-5 star ratings are eligible for tuition support to qualified families. Visit our 3-year-old and 4-year-old services pages to learn more about pre-K programs in Kalamazoo County.
Through our partnerships, KC Ready 4s offers mentorships to classroom teachers and Professional Development opportunities for staff.
Other programs are working to attain 4-5 stars.
